Direct Removals to Ireland from Essex, East London & Kent
A direct removal means our crew will arrive at your home, pack and dismantle your furniture if required, load our vehicle and travel to your new home in Ireland. The same crew will unload, then return to our depot in the UK.
You tell us the date you want your removal loaded, and we will give you the date and time of delivery, usually the next day for Dublin, Waterford, Wexford in the east of Ireland and a day later for Donegal, Sligo, Galway, Limerick and Killarney in the west. We can hold your goods in storage before delivery if required.
Ireland Removals – Regular Groupage
If you send your items on a groupage load they will travel with other customers’ belongings. The lorry will leave when it has a full load, usually weekly, and will work its way across Ireland delivering small loads as it goes.
When we give you a groupage estimate we will tell you when we expect a loaded lorry to leave and will give you a more accurate delivery date when it departs. The driver will then contact you with a delivery time. We will store your goods free of charge until the lorry leaves the UK.

Moving to Ireland – What do you need to know?
Ireland is an incredibly popular destination for home movers from the UK, whether you’re moving to work, to retire or simply to be closer to family and friends. But before you make the move, there are plenty of things to think about. No doubt you’ve already done your research, but here’s a quick look at some of the essential considerations to make sure all your boxes are ticked.
- Visas – If you’re moving to Ireland from outside of the European Union then you will need to apply for a long stay visa. You will need a different visa based on whether you plan to study, work or settle with a family already living in Ireland. If you’re moving to Ireland from the East of London, Kent or Essex then you will not need a visa and despite the UK’s exit from Europe, this is unlikely to change.
- Cost of living – If you think a move to Ireland will dramatically decrease your cost of living then you should think again, particularly if you plan to live in and around Dublin. In one study, Dublin ranked as the second most expensive city in the EU after London, so you won’t make significant savings. However, away from the capital in cities like Cork, Limerick and Galway, you will find the prices fall considerably.
- Taking your vehicle – If you plan on taking a vehicle with you to Ireland, you will need to do four things. That includes:
- Pay Vehicle Registration Tax (VRT)
- Get new vehicle registration plates
- Buy motor insurance in Ireland
- Pay for motor tax
- Healthcare – Healthcare in Ireland is public, free and of a high standard, and once you’re registered as a resident, you’ll be able to receive the same healthcare as an Irish citizen. Private sector healthcare is also available.
- Pets – Of course, you wouldn’t consider moving to Ireland without taking your pets with you, so you already know that you can take your cats, dogs and ferrets (yes, ferrets) as long they have an EU Pet Passport. You may also be able to take your pet bird, rabbit or rodent, provided they meet the entry requirements.
- Useful facts – The plugs are the same in Ireland as they are in the UK and they also drive on the same side of the road. Importantly, the currency is different (the euro) but we expect you already knew that.
